Highway 169 Overnight Closure at 36th Avenue

Highway 169 Overnight Closure at 36th Avenue
Posted on 10/11/2024

Highway 169 will be closed overnight at 36th Avenue beginning at 10 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, to allow for bridge striping. Motorists are advised to use the entrance and exit ramps at 36th Avenue as a detour.

Prior to the closure, Highway 169 will be reduced to a single lane to accommodate the detour. Starting at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, and ending at 4 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, southbound Highway 169 will be reduced to one lane between Rockford Road and 36th Avenue. Additionally, from 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, to 6 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, northbound Hwy 169 will be reduced to one lane between Medicine Lake Road and 36th Avenue.

Note: All construction activities and traffic impacts are subject to change depending on the weather and schedule.

Drive with care in work zones:

  • Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate with care and caution.
  • Stay alert, as work zones constantly change.
  • Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
  • Obey posted speed limits. The fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
  • Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
  • Be patient, and expect delays, especially during peak travel times.

More about this project:
In 2024, MnDOT will close, demolish, and rebuild the 36th Avenue bridge over Highway 169. The height of the new bridge will be increased to provide a safer standard clearance over Highway 169. The project is expected to be completed in October.
