Parking and Noise Ordinances

Parking

All state parking laws apply and additionally, New Hope City Code, Sec. 11-2. prohibits parking on public streets between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., and all parking is limited to ten consecutive hours at any other time.

Permits may be issued allowing overnight parking in certain situations such as construction or visitors. No more than two temporary parking permits may be issued for any property per calendar year. Call the Police Department at 763-531-5170 or after hours at 952-258-5321 to request permission to park overnight. You will be asked to provide the license plate number(s), location, reason you need to park on the street, and your name and phone number.

After a snow fall of 1 ½ inches or more, there is no street parking until the street has been plowed.

Noise

Any loud, unnecessary, or unusual noise that disturbs, injures, or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace, or safety of others is a violation. Any music that can be heard beyond the property line of the place it is being played, in a multi-residential building hallway or adjacent apartment, or beyond 50 feet from a vehicle is also a violation.

Additionally, as related to domestic power equipment. No person shall operate a power lawn mower, power hedge clipper, chain saw, mulcher, garden tiller, edger, drill, or other similar domestic power maintenance equipment, except between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on any weekday or between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on any weekend or holiday. Snow removal equipment is exempt from this provision.

If a violation occurs and it is impractical to contact the noise originator, call police at 911 or 952-258-5321.
