The City of New Hope mourns the loss of Council Member Andy Hoffe, who passed away on Friday, May 30.
Council Member Hoffe was a pillar of the New Hope community and a true public servant. First elected to the City Council in 2004, he was serving his sixth term after being re-elected in 2024. With a remarkable tenure spanning more than two decades, Hoffe exemplified the spirit of civic duty, dedicating countless hours to improving the lives of those around him. Known for his quiet kindness, thoughtful leadership and endless curiosity, he genuinely cared for the constituents he represented and the city he proudly called home for more than 40 years.
Beyond his work on the Council, Hoffe was also a devoted member of the Northwest Suburbs Cable Communications Commission, serving as a commissioner for 18 years. He understood the power of local media in connecting residents and sharing important community stories. His support of CCX Media and its mission was deeply personal—his late wife, Juanita, was the longtime host of Northwest City Politics, a program that brought local government into the homes of residents in the northwest metro.
Council Member Hoffe’s legacy is one of unwavering dedication, heartfelt service and a profound impact on the City of New Hope. His thoughtful leadership and deep love for his community have left an indelible mark that will be felt for generations.
New Hope Mayor John Elder reflected on Hoffe’s legacy, “Andy Hoffe was our most senior council member and led by example—showing new council members how to approach the role with integrity, compassion and genuine respect for both residents and staff. Andy made a lasting mark on our community, one that will be felt for many years to come. He was a joy to work with, and like all of my fellow council members, I will miss him deeply.”
The City of New Hope extends its heartfelt condolences to Council Member Hoffe’s family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
