Many neighborhoods in New Hope were originally designed so that the backyards would convey stormwater runoff from properties to the roadway where the water could enter the underground storm system. Over time construction of pools, patios, sheds, landscaping etc. in the backyards have created numerous problems. As theses issues exist on private property in residential backyards the city does not have a program to fix these issues. However, if you have backyard drainage issues the Stormwater Specialist can assess your situation and recommend any potential solutions. Unfortunately these solutions will likely be at the homeowner's expense.
