Minnesota Statutes requires that local candidates’ Campaign Financial Reports be filed and posted on local government website and must remain available for four years from the date posted. The initial report must be filed within 14 days after the candidate or committee receives contributions or makes expenditures of more than $750 in a calendar year. The city clerk is not responsible for interpreting or enforcing campaign finance or practice laws. Complaints regarding campaign finance or practice violations governed by Minnesota Statutes 211A or 211B are heard by the Office of Administrative Hearings. Additional information is available at www.oah.state.mn.us.
