Water Service Information
The City of New Hope provides water service in partnership with the cities of Crystal and Golden Valley through a joint powers organization known as the Joint Water Commission (JWC). The JWC has a long-term agreement with the City of Minneapolis to purchase treated drinking water.

Water is drawn from the Mississippi River, treated at Minneapolis water treatment facilities, and pumped to reservoirs in Crystal and Golden Valley. From there, it is distributed to residents and businesses in New Hope, Crystal and Golden Valley.

Water Service Responsibilities
Water meters, valves, service lines, stop boxes, and corporation stops are the responsibility of the property owner.

If you need water service turned off or on at the stop box, please contact Public Works. A fee of $50 is charged to turn the water off and an additional $50 fee is charged to turn the water back on.

Water Quality and Softening
New Hope's drinking water is softened during the treatment process before it reaches your home. The average water hardness is approximately 4.5 grains per gallon. As a result, most residents do not need a water softener.

Reporting a Water Main Break
If you suspect a water break, water coming up from the pavement and flowing down the street, contact Public Works at 763-592-6777 during business hours. If it is after hours, contact Police Dispatch at 763-531-5170. If no one answers at dispatch, call 911.
