The New Hope City Council is responsible for setting policies, making decisions and guiding the City's future. The Council consists of the mayor and four council members, all elected through nonpartisan elections to serve four-year terms. Elections are staggered, and all members represent the community at large rather than individual wards.
The mayor presides over City Council meetings and represents New Hope at community events and in relationships with other government agencies. The mayor and council members otherwise share the same authority and responsibilities.
