Scheduling Inspections
Those who need to schedule an inspection during the planned outage should send an email to [email protected] or call 763-531-5127.
Permits are required before most construction-related projects may begin. If you are unsure whether a project requires a permit, or don't know which permits are required, call the Inspections Division at 763-531-5127 for assistance. As part of the permitting process, a certified building inspector from the city will inspect the project to ensure that the work has been completed correctly. Permits issued through the city include building, mechanical, plumbing, special hazard, sign, fire protection, code compliance inspection and more.
Applications
Permit applications are required for construction projects, fire related activities, and new businesses.
View Permits
Permits for properties in New Hope that have been issued since June of 1988 can be viewed through the permits search page. On the permits search page, enter a property number and street name, and click "Search." The permits on file for the subject property will be listed at the bottom of the page. If there is not a date entered under the column labeled “Final Date,” that permit is still open. Permits issued before that date can be viewed by accessing the property file located at city hall.
ePermits
Contractors and homeowners may obtain the following permits as ePermits:
- Air conditioning units
- Dishwashers
- Draintile
- Electrical
- Furnaces
- Point of Sale inspections (when selling residential property)
- Roofing
- Sewer & water
- Siding, soffit, and fascia
- Water heaters
The process is very simple, and the website transaction is secured through VeriSign. There is a $3.50 charge for processing ePermits. Building and plumbing contractors must have an active state license and insurance certificate. Mechanical contractors must be bonded through the state and an insurance certificate.
eScheduling
eScheduling is available for all inspections types via the ePermits Portal, except electrical and new home construction. Inspections may be scheduled up to 10 days in advance. Same day inspection scheduling is not available.
Payment
Permits may be paid for at city hall, by phone, or through the ePermits Portal. Call the Inspections Division at 763-531-5127 for assistance.
