Aug. 10 Update
The intersection of Xylon and 42nd Avenue has reopened to traffic. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to continue using caution throughout the area as construction and traffic changes continue both at the intersection and along 42nd Avenue.
Zealand and Aquila avenues remain closed to traffic from 42nd Avenue.
Boone and 42nd Avenue intersection remains closed while crews completed work on the intersection. It’s anticipated the closure will continue into late August.
As work on the 42nd Avenue infrastructure improvement project continues, contractors will close intersections to complete utility improvement work safely.
Xylon and 42nd Avenue Intersection
The north side of the intersection at Xylon and 42nd avenues will be closed July 5, July 7-13 and July 17 until work is complete. During the closure, vehicles cannot turn from 42nd Avenue onto northbound Xylon Avenue or southbound Xylon Avenue onto 42nd Avenue.
42nd Avenue will remain open at the intersection but be reduced to one lane in both directions.
Boone and 42nd Avenue Intersection
The intersection at Boone and 42nd avenues will be closed from July 7 until work is completed, likely in late August.
One lane in each direction of 42nd Avenue will remain open to the east and west of Boone for access to residences and businesses.
Please note: Closure dates/times are estimates and are subject to change without notice based on weather and contractor schedules.
During the closure, motorists are asked to follow the posted detour routes. Businesses and residences will always maintain access, except when utility work occurs in front of the driveway. The contractor and/or construction manager will notify the business or resident when that work is happening.
