The Crystal, New Hope and Robbinsdale Citizens’ Police Academy is designed for the average citizen who wants to get to know their city’s police department. Participants can be an adult community member of any age and background within the city limits of New Hope, Crystal or Robbinsdale. Citizens’ Police Academy classes are ideal for neighborhood watch members or those who seek to strengthen their community by partnering with local police. Classes are free and held every Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. for six weeks beginning on Sept. 7. Space is limited and participants must commit to attending all six classes. Topics covered may include patrol tactics, investigations, narcotics, crime scene processing, juvenile crime, police dispatch, use of force, K-9 demonstrations and crime prevention strategies.
