New Hope Sees Positive Results from City Services Survey

679 New Hope residents took the time to fill out the City Services Survey in 2018, and upon examining the results, city staff feels very positive about the feedback they received.

Since 2011, New Hope has annually asked its residents to complete this short survey to help gauge areas where the city is meeting or surpassing expectations, and where residents see room for improvement.

The 2018 survey featured 14 questions on core city services, including: safety, streets, sewer and water, and city parks. It was sent out with utility bills in June, and was also available to fill out online.

Here are the city’s key takeaways from this year’s survey:
• 81% rated the overall quality of city services as “excellent” or “good”.
• 79% rated the overall appearance of the city as “excellent” or “good”.
• 92% responded that they feel “very safe” or “somewhat safe” living in the city.
• 86% rated the city’s water supply as “excellent” or “good”.
• 80% rated snowplowing and sanitary sewer services as “excellent” or “good”.

The largest improvement in ratings this year was in fire services. In 2017, 67% rated the services as “excellent” or “good”. However, in 2018, 79% rated the fire services as “excellent” or “good”.

Residents who had questions or concerns that reached beyond the survey were also invited to write those in on their submission, and city staff followed-up with each of those individuals accordingly.
