2022 Infrastructure Improvement Project

At the March 14 New Hope City Council meeting, the City of New Hope awarded the contract for
the street improvements in 2022 to Northwest Asphalt, Inc. Most of the work will be completed during the spring, summer, and fall of 2022. A map of the affected streets can be viewed at the link below.

The project map identifies streets in teal as proposed “reclaim and overlay” roadways. This type of road improvement involves removing the entire pavement section of the roadway down to the gravel base. Roadways will remain gravel, typically for two to three weeks, while the contractor performs subgrade repairs on the road base. Roadways will then be re-paved with a full new layer of pavement. The streets identified in teal will also receive water utility replacement as part of this project.

The project map identifies streets in orange as proposed "mill and overlay" roadways. This type of road improvement involves removing the top layer of pavement. Any subsurface repairs will then occur on the remaining road pavement. Three weeks after the initial pavement removal, roadways will be re-paved with a full new layer of pavement. UPDATE: Wisconsin Circle North was added to the project and will also be a mill and overlay street.

In addition to pavement rehabilitation, storm sewer structures and piping will be added at the south end of Independence Avenue to help with drainage issues. Water main will also be replaced along the north side of Bass Lake Road between Gettysburg Ave. N. and Highway 169.
